Please keep in mind that kombucha is mildly alcoholic. From there you can choose to drink your kombucha straight or come up with your own flavors. They also include a detailed guide on how to set up your brew. It will taste terrible because it’s concentrated to get your brew going. Kombucha is a little like sourdough bread in that you need a starter and you can make many batches from that one starter. Unlike brewing beer, once you start brewing kombucha, you can brew it forever. That said, I brew kombucha at home and it’s fun, satisfying, and saves me a ton of money. (Besides being sick of being blamed for everything– ba dum tss.) Using a kit to brew your own kombucha is maybe the most Millennial thing you can do. It’s loads of fun if you like murder mysteries and puzzles. We’ve played through three seasons now and we’re keeping the subscription.

True story–only hours after originally posting this article, I received one of these boxes in the mail and about had a heart attack wondering how the company got my address and mailed me a sample so quickly. If they’re a big Nancy Drew fan, check out their Nancy Drew themed box Mystery at Magnolia Gardens If diving into a full series isn’t what you’re looking for, they also have one-off murder mysteries like Death at the Dive Bar which is a fully immersive murder mystery that you can solve in one sitting. More evidence can be found in the Hunt A Killer portal as well as hints if you get stuck. It’s not impossibly hard but it’s hard enough that each box is worth a good hour or two of puzzling out the new evidence. The mysteries are solved by deciphering codes, making connections, keeping track of the timeline as you get more information, and ruling out suspects one at a time. I’ve played through Moon Summit with my partner (we have a paid subscription) and one of the items you get is a Moon Summit beanie that, if I’m recalling correctly, belonged to the victim.

The full series versions like this featured Moon Summit Mystery are made up of six “episodes.” Each box is a treasure of impressively faked evidence like newspaper clippings, police files, photos, receipts, maps, handwritten notes, and even physical evidence which is like getting extra little gifts.
